Adoption
is something that we have been passionate about since before we were married,
and we have been seeking the heart of God ever since in discerning whether or
not adoption should be part of our family's story. Through continued prayer, we see God opening this door for us at this time.
We have looked into an
Indonesian adoption, but that will not be an option for us for several reasons,
including the fact that we already have children and the fact that we are
not adherents of the majority religion, which significantly limits our
options for adoption here. For a variety of additional reasons, we
believe the timing is right for us to pursue a domestic US infant adoption.
We will be partnering with two agencies for this adoption- one will be conduct our homestudy here in Indonesia and the other agency will be doing our matching, placement, and post-placement. Through this partnership, we will be able to remain in Indonesia through the adoption process instead of having to complete it's entirety in the US.
As can be imagine, the process of doing a US domestic adoption while living overseas can be a challenging, long process. The timing is, obviously, completely out of our hands
and squarely in the strong, loving hands of our God, Whom we trust
absolutely to direct this process, as we have with each one of our
children.
